Tough, loyal, unstoppable, inspirational.
Here are some poems that praise the Clan Gregor, and some that lament their persecution and proscription by the Crown. Here are two examples of such poems in Gaelic, with their English translations. (And will include one written by Sir Walter Scott in the comments that has been put to music as well):
The first poem is from the Book of the Dean of Lismore, a collection of Gaelic poetry compiled by Sir James MacGregor and his brother Duncan in the early 16th century.
http://www.thegreggs.biz/gfhpsd/chamberlain/clangregor1.htm It is attributed to Donnchadh Mor Mac an t-Saoir, a bard of Clan Gregor, and it celebrates the clan's victory at the Battle of Glenfruin in 1603, where they defeated the Clan Colquhoun.
Gaelic:
A Chlanna Cuinn cuimhnichibh Cruas an am na h-iorghaile Gluaisidh ar n-each gu h-ealamh Gu h-eachdraidh 's gu h-ealadhna Gluaisidh ar n-each gu h-ealamh Gu h-eachdraidh 's gu h-ealadhna
English:
O race of Conn, remember The hardness of the time of battle Let us move our steeds to the field To history and to valour Let us move our steeds to the field To history and to valour
The second poem is from the Chronicle of Fortingall, a manuscript that records the history of Clan Gregor from 1092 to 1576.
http://www.thegreggs.biz/gfhpsd/chamberlain/clangregor1.htm It is a lament for Alasdair MacGregor of Glenstrae, the chief of the clan, who was executed in Edinburgh in 1604, along with 25 other MacGregors, after being betrayed by Archibald Campbell, Earl of Argyll. https://www.thenational.scot/.../19356173.stories.../
The event was immortalised in a famous Gaelic lament, Beloved Gregor, for which I have given a translation provided by Dr Martin MacGregor of the Glasgow University Centre for Scottish and Celtic Studies.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_MacDougall
Gaelic:
A Ghriogair mhilidh nan cruadal Bha thu 'n ceannard dhuinn uile 'S tu bha 'n t-urram dhuinn uile 'S tu bha 'n t-urram dhuinn uile
English:
O Gregor warrior of hardships You were our leader all And you were our honour all And you were our honour all
